This has been a tough week... but we have made it through! The election is over, our firefighters are holding the fires at a bay and the sun is shining! Get out this weekend and blow off a little steam. Grab a bike and hit the Riverwalk for a great view of the leaves changing. Take your dog to one of the three dog parks in Chattanooga. Enjoy a glass of something cold with friends at one of the local watering holes. Whatever you do, you deserve a lovely weekend in Chattanooga!
Shop for A Cause
Today, the 10th Annual NSMC Holiday Open House will benefit The Northside Neighborhood House. With specials, deals and of course plenty of festive decorations and events, this is a great way to kick off the weekend. If you have attended this event in the past, or have spent any time on the North Shore, you know folks on the North Shore are super creative and crafty. This year brings the 2nd Annual Northside Window Hunt, which is super fun for kids (and adults, thank you very much). Check out the merchant windows, and find the items on the treasure hunt list to be entered to win a basket of goodies from participating merchants. I suggest starting at my favorite window, Blue Skies. This year's festivities includes a partnership with Soundcorps to bring live and local music to the Northshore streets, along with fun and festive art installations. Get your shopping done early, get in the festive mood and support a great cause while you are at it. Friday- Sunday Various Shops, Manufacturers Road. Details online.
Get Your Outdoor (Gear) Fix
The smoke may be keeping us off the mountains this weekend, but you can get your outdoor RootsRated fix this afternoon at Rock Creek in North Chattanooga. The Fall In Love With The Outside Road Tour has made it's way to Chattanooga! I have been following them along their journey on Instagram and I, for one am looking forward to checking out the new gear as Marmot is one of my favorite brands. Today, you can join Marmot + RootsRated Rock/Creek to celebrate the great outdoors and support Friends of the Cumberland Trail, as all proceeds from the event will go directly to support their endeavors to maintain and expand public trails. Enjoy live music, outdoor trivia, tent pitching contests, photo booths, Marmot gear raffles, and good ole' conversations about where to go outdoors. The event is free to attend, but $5 will get you a cold beer, a cool Ball® Canning & Recipes Mason Jar, as well as entry into the raffles. If you can't be on the trails, why not hang out with people who love them as much as you do! Rock Creek, 2 North Shore 301 Manufacturers Road. 6-8pm
