Weekends in the summer take on a little bit of holiday vibe. There is almost a little bit of a frenzy to cram as much into each weekend as you can before cooler weather puts an end to all your fun. Which is a little crazy because in Chattanooga you can be outdoors all year long. Maybe it is the longer days or the fact that we all grew up with back to school hanging over our heads, but summer is special to adults as well as children. This weekend, there is not shortage of fun to get into in Chattanooga. With the usual suspects such asNightfall Concert Series and Chattanooga Lookouts game, there are some added events that are newer if not new to Chattanooga.

SharkfestThe sharks have taken over Chattanooga. If you love sharks or you kids do (I am terrified by them, but my kids love them). Head over tonight to the Tennnessee Aquarium and see if you can hang with theSharkfest 2016.The theme of the night is ...Sharks! With tattoos, special shark hairdo, Dr. Bernie’s Travelin’ Shark Show is back in town with bizarre museum specimens and more. The events and fun include Cowboy Kyle's Shark Round-up, Dr. Bernie's Travelin' Shark Show, Fin-tastic Shark Hair-do station,Temporary Shark Tattoo Station, Massive Prehistoric Shark Tooth Display, Shark-tivities on the Pavilion, Interactive Shark Dive Shows, Ice Cream from Cold Stone Creamery, Shark Selfie Station, and much more! Free for members, this event requires tickets which are available at the ticket office. Friday, 6-8:30 am.
Part food festival, part block party, Food-O-Rama, a gathering of specialty food trucks and live music is popping up this weekend in Coolidge Park. Originating in Chicago's Grant Park, this Saturday, they will be setting up on the banks of the Tennessee River. Bringing with them vendors selling arts, crafts, beer and of course, food truck food along with live music acts, this will be the fun place to be from 11-7 on Saturday. Tickets are available today for $5 online and tomorrow for $10 at the gate. Don't miss you chance to Snapchat and Instagram story your way through 15 fantastic offerings. 150 River Street.
DeadPhish Orchestra will be stopping in Chattanooga after playing the Jerry Garcia Bash in Knoxville. Riverfront Nights will be home to this jam band which blends Phish and the Grateful Dead. Opening band, Rare Coalition Band will open at 7. The event free and is kid and dog friendly with food and beverages for sale. Ross's Landing, 201 Riverfront Parkway.
World's Longest Yard Sale
If you are a fan of the weird and eclectic, head out to the "World's Longest Yard Sale" this weekend. Heading from Addison, Michigan to Gadsden, Alabama along Highway 127, it offers a great time consuming way to spend a Saturday or Sunday. Random items from antiques to Beanie Babies can be purchased as you creep along. You can catch the offshoot on Highway 27 on Signal Mountain, saving yourself the drive.
