This is the last weekend before Christmas! Men (and women) everywhere are scrambling to get their holiday shopping finished and readying themselves for the onslaught of holiday eating, drinking and merry making that is coming up next week. It has finally gotten cold and has started to feel a little more like Christmas. Here are your Chattanooga weekend best bets for this last weekend before Christmas.
Is there anyone who is not planning on seeing Star Wars in the next few days? We have our tickets for Saturday's show and are scouring our house for our light sabers and Yoda ears. There are so many theaters and times to see this weekend, you really have no excuse not to go see the movie. However, I recommend buying your tickets early at Fandango.com and going early to get in line.
This is the last weekend for the Chattanooga Market vendors until after Easter. There are so many wonderful hand crafted items to choose from and something for everyone from Grandma to Aunt Sue to the dog. This weekend the Chattanooga Convention Center will once again offer unique gifts including everything from arts and crafts vendors, pottery all from local artisans. Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. p.m.1150 Carter St.
It is finally cold and so it is time to head down to Ross's Landing in downtown Chattanooga and strap on some skates and hit the ice. Ice on the Landing is one of Chattanooga's newest traditions, returning for a second year with a bigger rink. We went last year and it was one of the most fun things of the season. All ages are welcome and if you are not a top skater, you can rent the training wheels of ice skating. Hours are Friday and Saturday until 11 and 9 on Sunday with different hours during the week. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under. What a great tradition to start for your family. Located at 100 Riverfront Parkway. Parking is available across the street.
There is just something magical about Rock City Gardens during the holidays. The tradition of going to Rock City with your family to visit Santa, take in the Enchanted Garden of Lights and the carolers is a big one with Chattanooga locals. There is no way to describe the gorgeous holiday lights with the city lights twinkling behind them. There is a Starbucks to warm you after your stroll ( or hot chocolate and treats at the concession stand) and the Rock City shop is a great place to buy gifts including the iconic Rock City bird house. The grounds are open until 9pm this weekend. Located at 1400 Patten Road, Lookout Mountain, GA.
Chattanooga is so pretty this time of year and everyone is in the Christmas spirit. We hope you have a safe and happy start to the Christmas week.
